Since the 2017 academic year, our general education curriculum design is based on comprehensive knowledge, combined with the renovation of the course group structure, leading students to learn in multiple ways and acquire both knowledge and ability. The basic concept of course design is:

1. General education courses can be divided into three aspects: Core, inter-college, and university-level essential competencies.
The transformation of the new general education curriculum is mainly aimed at enhancing the inter-disciplinary knowledge dialogue, deepening the cross-domain thinking of scientific and technological talents, and equipping students with a unique learning path according to their individual differences in general education courses. Therefore, we plan a student-learning-oriented and up-to-date curriculum structure to refine core general education courses on the original basis to facilitate exchanges between students in different fields of study, to stimulate their interest in a wide range of subjects, and to strengthen the cultivation of living ability and interpersonal relationship.

This new framework aims to cultivate students who can think and debate, understand the meaning of life and create the value of life through the core curriculum. Courses on inter-college essential competencies expect to train students to possess the interdisciplinary ability to explore in addition to their expertise. Courses on university-level essential competencies are based on the feature curriculum extended from the core courses, coupled with the courses aimed at cultivating students' learning by doing and teamwork, so as to enrich and deepen holistic education, and let students think about how Taiwan can take its advantages to make its presence felt in the international community

2. Promote holistic literacy based on humanistic and multicultural identity
Citizens’ humanistic and social science literacy is vital to a nation’s rise and fall. The purpose of liberal education is to implement the ideal of holistic education in universities in an all-round manner. The curriculum is designed to actively establish a perfect holistic education environment, and create a curriculum and atmosphere with school-wide potential humanistic significance, including courses and activities such as classical lectures, arts and culture appreciation, gender equity education, etc. Combined with the general courses in the school, we pursue the goal of holistic literacy through the promotion of academic ethics, the cultivation of physical fitness, the social practice of service learning, and the lectures by leading figures at home and abroad.

The three types of courses are briefly described as follows:

Core Curriculum
Courses planned and offered by the Center for General Education, which are classified into three dimensions: humanities, social science and natural science.

Inter-college Essential Competencies
Professional basic courses of other colleges designated by the college-level curriculum committee.

University-level Essential Competencies
Courses in line with the spirit of general education planned and offered by the curriculum committee under the General Education Committee.
