Congratulations to Dr. Lien-te Hung on his appointment as NCTU tenured professorial chair
Dr. Lien-te Hung, former professorial chair of social economics under the Lien Chen-tung Memorial Foundation at the College of Social Sciences of National Taiwan University, was in early 2012 employed as professorial chair of the Center for General Education at National Chiao Tung University for more than seven years, with the post term renewed twice (2015 and 2018). On June 13 this year, members of the faculty evaluation committee at the university affairs meeting unanimously approved his appointment as tenured professorial chair. This not only marked a personal honor for Dr. Hung, but also a recognition of his performance in teaching, research and publication. Professor Hung has taught "Introduction to European Culture," "Introduction to Sociology," "Singapore's Political Economy," "Analysis of and Comments about Marxism," "Contemporary World," "The Evolution of Social Thought" and "Analysis and Appreciation of Turgenev's Prose and Novels" for seven years, which are well-received by teachers and students. At the invitation of the university's open program, he also offered video and audio recordings of four courses for extension education. In the past seven years, Professor Hung has published the following monographs: New Theory of International Relations under Globalization (2012), Sociology of Contemporary Governance Reform (2nd ed. 2013), Individual and Society – Analysis of and Comments on Marx's Theory of Human Nature and Social Outlook (2014), Karl Marx (revised 2nd ed. 2015), Tradition and Rebellion: Exploration of Young Marx's Thoughts (revised and expanded 2nd ed. 2015), New Interpretation of Hegel's Philosophy (2016), Analysis and Appreciation of Turgenev's Works (2017), Karl Marx and the Critique of Contemporary Society (2018; 48th monograph in his life), and six papers. Professor Hung said that it was his wish to devote the rest of his life to National Chiao Tung University by working together with colleagues to promote the center as an excellent general education institution.
